The fee bands under the struck-through total

Freight, an operation fee, a second service fee and, on many lines, a customs and declaration fee. What each one is, where it shows, and how the red figure treats it.

Freight, the band that moves with weight

Freight is the part of the quote that depends on the parcel: its weight, its size and the line. Open Detail on a line and the Charge Standard panel shows the inputs JoyaGoo uses, a first-weight price and a continued-weight price, along with a fuel fee (zero on every line we looked at).

For US-air-F the panel reads $19.91 per first 500 g and $6.09 per further 200 g. The public data puts freight for our 1,000 g parcel at $38.19 out of a $42.38 struck total. How the weight steps work is a topic of its own, and we leave it there.

Freight is the only band JoyaGoo’s coupon wording names: the usage label on its coupons reads Freight, and its order guide says a coupon applies only to the shipping fee.

The operation fee, charged once per parcel

Ticket for the operation fee: 2.51 US dollars, 15 CNY at the site rate, same on all 375 quotes, labelled Service Fee in the Detail panel, quarter assumed off 0.63

Every one of the 375 quotes we pulled carried an operation fee of exactly $2.51. At JoyaGoo’s site conversion rate of 0.16744 US dollars per yuan, that is 15 CNY, which suggests the fee is set in yuan and converted for display.

It did not change across the sampled weights, destinations and lines on 17 October 2026. In the Detail panel it appears under the label Service Fee, which is confusing, because the public data has a separate field for a service fee and that one is a different amount.

No help article we found explains what the operation fee pays for. The red figure takes 63 cents off it on every line.

On a light parcel it is a noticeable slice of the struck total; on a heavy one it nearly disappears, because it stays at $2.51 while freight grows.

A second service fee with no row in the Detail panel

Comparison bars: what the Detail panel shows versus the struck total for US-air-F and CD-AIR to the UK, with a 1.68 gap each time

The public data has a field called serviceFee, worth $1.67 (10 CNY) on every line except EUB, where it is zero. The Charge Standard panel has no row for it. You can see the gap by adding up what the panel does show.

On US-air-F, freight of $38.19 plus the panel’s $2.51 makes $40.70, against a struck total of $42.38. On CD-AIR to the United Kingdom the panel shows $37.00 first weight, an $8.04 customs and declaration fee and $2.51, which is $47.55 against $49.23. Both gaps are $1.68, the hidden fee plus a cent of rounding.

It is a small amount, but it is the clearest case of a charge the red figure discounts that no coupon wording and no panel row mentions.

The customs and declaration fee, where it appears

Thirteen of the 28 line names in our snapshot add a fee labelled Customs and Declaration Fee: $8.04, which is 48 CNY at the site rate. It appeared on 83 of the 99 destination-line pairs at 1,000 g, including EUB, eEms, EMS-60, CD-AIR, PostNL-Z-T, the two Canadian air lines and the DHL air lines.

It turns up even on lines tagged Tax Free. DHL-air-Fh to Germany carries the Tax Free and Free Insurance tags and still charges the $8.04 fee. JoyaGoo does not explain what the fee pays for; its fee article only says customs charges may vary by shipping method (Shopping Agent Fee Explanation).

Route details for CD-AIR to the United Kingdom: parcel limits on the left; on the right first weight 37.00 per 1000 g, continued 17.58 per 1000 g, customs and declaration fee 8.04, Service Fee 2.51

This is the band the coupon wording rules out in words, and the red figure still takes $2.01 off it.

An air surcharge on one Australian bag line

One line in the snapshot carried a fifth band. XJ Australia Line-Bags adds an air surcharge that grows with weight: $16.58 at 500 g, $20.26 at 1,000 g, $38.68 at 2,000 g and $93.93 at 5,000 g. It is listed in the Detail panel as Air Surcharge.

At 1,000 g that surcharge makes non-freight charges 48.5% of the struck $50.40, the highest share in our data. The red figure takes $5.07 off the surcharge alone. Whether a surcharge counts as shipping for coupon purposes is not stated anywhere we could find, so the audit tool marks it as not named.

No other line in the 15 destinations carried a fuel fee or an air surcharge at any of the four weights we tried.

The fixed bands in yuan, and the site exchange rate

Ticket converting the fixed fees: operation fee 15 CNY equals 2.51 dollars, service fee 10 CNY equals 1.67, customs and declaration fee 48 CNY equals 8.04, at 0.16744
Fixed fees in yuan and dollars at the site rate. Open full-size image

The three fixed amounts convert to round yuan figures at the rate JoyaGoo’s site uses for US dollars, 0.16744 per yuan: the operation fee is 15 CNY, the service fee 10 CNY and the customs and declaration fee 48 CNY.

That site rate is itself above the market. By our own check on 17 October 2026 it valued the yuan about 12.2% higher than the mid-market rate published that day, so dollar prices on the site come out roughly that much higher than a straight conversion. The red figure’s quarter is calculated on those already-converted dollars. Converting back, a quarter of 48 CNY is 12 CNY, which is the $2.01 the red figure takes off the customs and declaration fee.

Other charges the help pages list

The estimator quote covers international shipping only. JoyaGoo’s fee article says the agent service itself is free and lists the other things you may pay: the item and the domestic shipping to the warehouse, return shipping and handling, international shipping and possible customs charges.

  • Detailed photos: $0.22 each, up to 20 (Detailed Photo Service).
  • Returns with no quality problem: a small fee of about $0.75 (Return Policy).
  • Storage past 90 days: 10 CNY per 30 days (storage article).
  • Rehearsal packing: the tutorial quotes 20 CNY; the dedicated rehearsal article and value-added list quote $3. These are separate published amounts, not an asserted currency conversion. Confirm the account charge.

None of these appears in the estimator’s struck total, and none is touched by its red figure.
